Memento Films International has added Kelly Reichardt's WENDY AND LUCY as the fourth title in its sales lineup for the upcoming Cannes Film Festival.
The film will have its world premiere at Un Certain Regard.
WENDY AND LUCY stars Academy Award nominee Michelle Williams, and Will Patton. In the film, Wendy is driving to Ketchikan, Alaska, in hopes of a summer of lucrative work at the Northwestern Fish cannery, and the start of a new life with her dog, Lucy. When her car breaks down in Oregon, however, the thin fabric of her financial situation comes apart, and she confronts a series of increasingly dire economic decisions, with far-ranging repercussions for herself and her dog. In stark, luminous terms, WENDY AND LUCY addresses issues of sympathy and generosity at the edges of American life, revealing the limits and depths of people's duty to each other in tough times.
Reichardt garnered stellar reviews with her previous film, OLD JOY, which premiered at Sundance in 2006 and won the Tiger Award for Best Film at the Rotterdam Film Festival.
WENDY AND LUCY was produced by Neil Kopp, Anish Savjani of filmscience and Larry Fessenden of Glass Eye Pix. |
